Wireless Coverage in Spruce Woods Provincial Park

I was in Spruce Woods Provincial Park on Saturday, May 21st and there was no wireless cell phone coverage for myself, my wife and other people in the park. Our phones returned 'no service' indicators. The coverage map at https://www.mts.ca/residential/wireless/coverage-and-roaming/manitoba says there is 4G LTE coverage in this area.

Can you tell me why myself, my wife and multiple other people experienced no cell phone coverage at this location/date?

Many people will be spending time in this park over the spring/summer/fall - is it expected that people will not have wireless cell coverage in this provincial park / highly visited area over the summer months. Please advise. Thank you

Hi Folks!

Thank you for letting us know about the service level in Spruce Woods. These issues that you have had with your wireless device are simply a reflection of the demand for our great service in the area for the network. Where you mentioned you were located, it does fall with in Cottage country and can see increased traffic during the summer months and thus causing some congestion especially during long weekends.

We do our best to provide the best wireless user experience possible to our customers and are constantly planning and upgrading service to ensure that we reach this goal. Have you considered getting the My Network Feedback application for situations like these? It definitely is our suggestion above and beyond reaching out to our Customer Care or Community team to provide immediate responses to issues that can arise that we may not know about.

You may also want to consider turning off your LTE setting in your cellular networks portion of the device. I've had success doing this myself - perhaps give it a try and see if it helps out your situation.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Cheers,
Gillian
