Is there any plan's of Fiber being installed further east of 9th street in Winkler. By east i mean one whole block over on 8th street. If we would at least get what we pay for I would be happy, but we very seldom get 2mps download.

I don't not work for or speak for BellMTS. That said CRTC has a target plan to get all Canadians to 50/10 service. There is a target in about 4 years time and a second one in 14 years time. As Winkler is a larger rural community and already has some fiber service it is most likely in the 4 year period. That said what Valley Fiber does could impact the BellMTS decision as there are grants for being first to market. Couple the grants with lack of people, tools and money to take on projects and it could make more sense to target others ahead of Winkler.

Upgrades to Winkler, Gimli and many other larger cities and towns simply just aren't happening with mts/bell, never mind other rural areas with even less population. The cream of the crop areas have already been picked over with fiber. The gouging with crappy and congested DSL, at best, will likely continue for a long time yet. Your chances are far greater that a smaller ISP such as High Speed Crow, Commstream, Valley Fiber, etc. will move in and profit from providing modern and long overdue fiber services.
