It's been a while but best I can recall the last Windows Phone MTS sold was a 930. The update coming out today seems to be for the 950 released in the fall of 2015. Those devices would be BYOD on MTS and MTS would have no control over updates.

I am not up to speed on all the ins and outs of Windows 10 Mobile upgrades but I thought the 830 era devices were outside the scope as it is about three year old hardware .

it seem the 830 is on the list of phones...it seems most windows phones that run 8.1 and have at least a gig of ram ( maybe wrong on that) can install windows 10 mobile...

I had the same question. My wife has the 830 and it should get the Windows 10 update. Just wondering when.

Hello Chad,

The OS updates for devices are pushed out by the phone manufactures as soon as they're ready. Do you have your phone set up to notify you as soon as an update is available? If not you can go into your settings to manually check when an update is available. :)

Yes I do. I know some OS's go through you guys or any others to do tests to see if  it needs tweaks etc.

Thank you for the update, Chad. :)
I'm going to see if our technical support team has gotten the update for their test devices.

For the Nokia Lumia 830, we have officially launched the Windows 10 update.
Here are a few tips:
  • It is recommended that users first visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-mobile-upgrade and download the upgrade advisor app to help guide through the update process.
  • Users are strongly encouraged to back up their device prior to starting the update.
  • The update is large, approximately 3GB in size. There will need to be sufficient space to accommodate the update on the device in order to proceed with update.
  • It is strongly recommended users keep their device plugged in while updating device to ensure power is not lost.
  • Given the size of the download, users are strongly encouraged to connect to Wi-Fi prior to starting the download.
  • Upgrade time can take up to one hour to complete, users will not be able to use their device during this time.

A few other things to note:
  1. Some features may no longer be supported by Windows 10 Mobile, please visit http://windows.com/specsmobile for more information
  2. For more information on Windows 10 Mobile, please visit http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/support-mobile
Feel free to share your own tips or experiences!
