Why is the newHDTV package LESS user friendly than Classic...?

The old Classic tv menu was MUCH better than the new format. Sure, we get full screen now and better HD picture, but the menu is HORRIBLE...! You cannot search sports by type, the guide menu is hard to read over top of the picture, and scrolling through programs is awkward and hard to decipher. What a piece of junk. MTS has GOT to tune this thing up.

Hi Laurie - Happy Thanksgiving!!

When we launched what we now call our "Classic TV" platform in around 2003 we were one of if not the first carriers to do so in North America. It was launched with a vendor called "Next Level" which was later bought by Motorola.
We were certainly very, very proud of the functionality and neat features that we were able to incorporate. Personally I really liked the "auto-tune" feature that would change the channel automatically if you had set it to watch a show (kind of a lazy man live remote).
Unfortunately there were a few very important things that the classic platform couldn't do well - HD TV, and an incorporated PVR. We also heard that the guide looked like "hotel tv from the late 90's".

As we knew that HD TV and a PVR were going to be very important to our customers we needed to a new platform. We choose the Microsoft mediaroom product as it offered the best functionality on the things our customers were demanding. The opportunity to customize and deliver exactly everything we had on classic just isn't available to us. The guide and functionality is very similar to what other companies who use mediaroom have.

We are planning a few changes to our VOD storefront to make it more graphics driven and over the course of the next few years there will be a greater emphasis on personalization and recommendations to bring your video entertainment to you based on preferences that you set and evolve with what you watch.

Thanks for your comments and I hope you do enjoy the things that our Ultimate TV offers like HD the PVR and VOD movies and shows.
