Why did I receive details of an IPhone 6 pre-order, but the Connect store said there wasn't.?

I was excited to hear that the IPhone 6 was to be sold on the 19th. I saw on facebook that there would be a pre-order via the Connect stores. So when I went down there, the next day, and was told that wasn't the case, I was very disappointed. The salesperson said that I could leave my name on a "wish list", so that if there are any units available they would call me. The phones are still only available first come first serve. This felt like a marketing ploy. Why would the Facebook post call it a pre-order when it's not?

Hi Kim, we apologize for the confusion this has caused. The iPhone 6 devices are currently in huge demand worldwide and inventory levels at our MTS Connect stores are not able to meet the demand for this product today. In order to provide the best all-round customer experience to both our customers looking to Pre-Order a device and customers wishing to line up outside our MTS Connect Stores to purchase a device in person, we asked that our Retail locations carefully manage the quantity of customers placed on the Pre-Order list so that there would be devices available for sale in store on launch day. This did unfortunately mean that some Retail locations stopped taking "Pre-Orders" and switched to a "wish list". We understand your frustration and will make sure we are clearer with our communication next time.
