One of the new features to come will be the ability to restart select programs from the last 30 hours.  From what is on the BellMTS web page there will be 17 channels in 2017, and available on more channels in 2018.  Currently there is nothing announced on what the 17 channels are but I would expect to see them announced soon.

The web page  fine print says its available with select channels/content, excluding US networks and non-local content, and subject to viewing limitations. Whole Home PVR required.

From the Bell site looks like the big changes are:

Access over 500 channels from any device.

Restart shows from the past 30 hours.

Just got told on mts chat that Fibe is nothing more than rebranding. Fibe app is "Bell" which is not bell mts so wont work

It's a conversion process coming in waves. The rewind 30 hours feature should be up next.

Here is the information on rewind from the fine print section of the TV features web page

Available with select channels/content, excluding US networks and non-local content, and subject to viewing limitations. Whole Home PVR required.."

It will be 17 channels to start in 2017 and more in 2018.  I am going to make a guess that there may be some sort of copyright  or distribution right issue that will prevent the US networks from being included in rewind.

Saw on the back of a bus today about the live rewind feature coming to Fibe TV. Seems they will be using it as a market angle as a unique feature. That advertisement is already out there seems to suggest it is very close now.

Alright, as a takeaway for me I'm going to look into the inconsistencies when an action is taken with the peek still up. When you get a chance, can you confirm what happens when you either let the peek dismiss on its own, but also when you hit exit to dismiss?

I will try to do them both tonight.

Hey there Cory,

I found some time this week to do further testing. When tuning to a channel already being recorded, it takes a little over 2 seconds for the recording buffer to be accessible. In comparison, the bottom peek lasts about 5 seconds. So you don't actually have to wait for it to disappear as I had suggested earlier.

If the channel being recording does *not* have Restart capability, I found the rewind option did not immediately work until 2-3 seconds had past (likely waiting for recording buffer to be accessible as previously mentioned).

If the channel does have Restart capability, you are able to rewind immediately after channel tune. However, it'll be accessing the channel on the Restart server (with FF restrictions in place) because the recording buffer wasn't ready yet.

I got a hold of a newer client from the vendor and it appears to have the same behavior. There's clearly a lot of nuance in how Restart affects channel tunes, and we're still trying to get a handle on all of them.   ;-)

I don't see the appeal in the restart function since I can't fast forward.

It certainly has a specific appeal to it.  I agree that the inability to fast forward has prevented me from using it once or twice.  What I can say though is that it has come in handy when I forgot to set my PVR for a weekly show and I wanted to make sure I caught it.  It was certainly an adjustment having to sit through commercials for a change, but I sure learned about a lot of new movies and products coming out. lol

Will you be able to fast forward in restart in the future
