Has anybody else noticed that  lately when there is a weather warning issued that includes Winnipeg that on the SD version of the Weather Network only the first line appears and it never moves.

I am talking about the warning that replaces the forecast icons in the bottom 1/4 of the screen.

Hey Clifford,
I can't say that I have noticed this.  I would suspect it's static on the SD feed due to the limited space on the screen.  It might remain visible all the time.  This may also be dependent on the warning type, this is just a guess though.  I'll have to check it out next time there is some scary weather coming.

Up to the last few weeks it use to scroll when a weather warning or watch is issued for Winnipeg and area.

Currently when one is issued you should see more than   Weather warning issued for :              and nothing else comes up.

I wonder if its a problem with the data  from Pelmorex (weather network data provider)  hanging as they are inserting it to the MTS feed .

Oh! well that is completely different.  I thought it was just a smaller message that didn't scroll anymore.  Sorry for the confusion.  As you can see I don't catch the weather station very often.  I will report the issue and see if there is anything that can be done.  It may have to wait for the next warning to come up so they can catch the problem to correct it but I'll be sure to escalate the problem and see what we can do about correcting it.

After your 1st reply I talked to viewer relations at the Weather Network to see if they had made changes maybe due to the new weather alert system, and they didn't but they opened a ticked with their techs to see if something is wrong with the feed to MTS so somewhere along the way it should get fixed.

On a side note.... I have never noticed the MTS box to give any "Alerts" when issued.... I thought the box was supposed to input a message over ANY channel...or am I wrong?

Other than the test back in June on Manitoba Emergency Prep day I don't think that Winnipeg has had any events that qualify for the enhanced warning.

My mistake  I thought all warnings (like tornado, thuderstorm, etc..) would be broadcast through the MTS Set top box. What types of alerts are considered "enhanced"

I know at the end of June there were multiple Tornado warnings one Saturday afternoon and many radio stations and CTV had alerts every couple of minutes, whereas Global only broadcast one, and CBC didn't broadcast any of them. So there are glitches to be worked out. :)

It still is a work in progress.

By enhanced I meant the new system vs the normal notifications that have the weather network go red on the 10 minute weather reports or a normal radio announcer reading the warning as part of the weather report.

Just an FYI, I had a quick chat with our TV guys and they advised that these messages are generated and provided by the Weather Network themselves so we are trying to work with them to figure out what is causing the problem.  Sadly I have no other updates at the moment, but the fact it occurred last night again should help them identify it.
