I am looking to upgrade my families personal router since our Actiontec 607 router is not up to par to our needs. How would I set up the router? Would I need to get it set up by a MTS person or can i do it on my own? Thanks

Easiest way is turn DHCP off on our own router, connected in via wired connection (Ethernet) to the BellMTS Gateway and on the BellMTS Gateway set it to be in the DMZ.

What are the advantages of enabling DMZ on the gateway? My router (OnHub) works fine with just DHCP off.

There really is no advantage per say.  It's more of a fix if traffic is not flowing to the right device.  If everything is working for you as is, without the DMZ, I would say leave it disabled.

Hey Denis,
CoryB is correct, the best way to setup a 3rd party router is to disable DHCP and let the Bell MTS modem to the IP assignment.  This helps prevent IP conflicts.  An additional note I can add is you would have to be on your own to set it up and support it because we cannot really support 3rd party equipment.  We can give you some pointers if you run into trouble but that's pretty much it.

What is the trouble you are having by the way?  The reason I ask is if the issue is Wifi related there is additional equipment available from us that may help resolve your issue.  That way we could set it all up for you and then it would be 100% supported.

Just a thought, either way I hope your able to get the service working to meet your needs.
