Switching to MTS. Got some questions

I decided to switch to MTS as it might save me some money (I am the Home Internet user) because of Total Internet feature.
Essentially, I would like to get subsidized phone as this makes sense to me. Now the questions:
Question 1.
I went through MyPlan Builder and decided to have these options besides the Starter Plan:
- 100 minutes
- flat rate Canada-wide data with personal mobile hotspot
Total will be: $25 (Starter Plan) + $10 (100 minutes) + $40 (data) = $75.
As I said, I would like to subscribe to Total Internet for one device ($65/mo).
At the end of the day month I have to pay $25+$10+$60=$95 (including Home Internet).
But now the price of the plan I am going to subscribe to will be $25+$10=$35. Having the price for the plan less than $60, am I still eligible to get a subsidized phone?
Question 2.
As far as I understand, I will have to pay for a SIM-card and for hardware activation (you name it).
Is there an possibility to have these payments waived?
I simply do not understand this - I have to pay the Company initially in order to pay for the services I will be using (i.e. pay to pay) onwards.
Question 3.
If I decide to add/remove minutes/services on my account will I be able to:
- do it by using MyAccount
- have them activated next billing period.

Hi Chemist!

Thanks for considering MTS for your Wireless service, we're looking forward to having you as a customer. To clear up a few things - I thought I would just respond to your questions and we can definitely go from there.

Do you currently have service with another Wireles provider? If so, when you sign a new 24 month contract you're eligible for a $100.00 conversion credit and you'll still get to keep your existing phone number. 

When you sign up for service, you're right your contracted price will be: $25 (Starter Plan) + $10 (100 minutes) + $40 (data) = $75. While you're on total internet, we simply suppress the data component charge of your Wireless monthly plan and the data price point is completely encompassed in the Total Internet charge monthly. While yes, you're right it will fall under your contracted price - that's okay! You're not punished for it and still eligible for a subsidized handset when you sign up for MTS. 

When it comes to the Hardware Activation Fee - the conversion credit will take care of this charge for you and then leave you with an additional credit. It isn't something that we generally waive on first time activation's, later on when you choose to keep your service with MTS and do an upgrade; we may have a little wiggle room at that point.  Everything is dealt with on a case by case basis. Little background on the Hardware Activation Fee and why it's applicable, it does cover the expense associated with ensuring that all your information is up to date, and accurate at time of initiation of service with MTS. It also ensures the device is properly provisioned on both the voice and data wireless networks, and to confirm it's properly functioning prior to your departure from the MTS Connect location. Among all providers it is a commonly charged fee.

As of now, if you want to change voice or data components - you're not able to do on My Account. It is something we're working on launching as a part of our platform, but we don't have a release date at this time. Stay tuned for details there!
