Spam messages taking over my inbox

My apologies if this has been discussed already.....For the past 24-48 hours, a TON of emails that look like spam/advertising have flooded my inbox.  The emails just keep coming and it's getting very annoying.  Is there an issue with MTS that is allowing this to happen?  I know other MTS customers who say it's also happening to them.

I'm considering just closing my MTS email account and starting fresh.  But if I do that with a new MTS email address, will the issue begin again?

Please advise.

Hi Erin,
The Spam email being delivered to your inbox unfortunately is a temporary result of the email change.  During this transition period there were some changes that had to be made on the server side to try to prevent interruption in email delivery however these changes resulted in some adjustments to the spam filtering on the Microsoft side.  We apologize for the inconvenience and assure you this issue will not continue once the migration has been completed.

I got some spam when I first migrated over, it wasn't until I started highlighting the messages and clicking the SPAM button on webmail that it just stopped.  I had the very same problem when I first went to Windows Live, so it is a good bet the spam settings don't come over when you migrate, and you have to help the new email service "learn" what you think spam is again.

Log into webmail at and highlight the spam messages and click the spam button in the top menu bar.  those messages should stop showing up in the future.
