Being away for 4 months over the winter - does MTS have any program allowing reduced services during an extended period of non use without having to cancel and re-instate?

Kenneth's got it, though it's changed a little bit recently.

You can put your TV and Internet onto a temporary disconnection for up to 9 months now (minimum 30 days) for $6.00 per month each. The Home phone can also be placed onto a temporary disconnection as well, however it is $3.35 per month and has a $12.00 reconnect fee. All the equipment remains in place and will reconnect without an installer visit when you get back.

If you have a monitored alarm you may not wish to put the phone on hold though, as this will upset the system (not a great way to start your vacation), this will depend on your alarm system though.

You can also change the reconnect date as well (please let us know 2 business days in advance) in case you are coming back early, or later.
