Have friends of mine in Royalwood area who apparently have a problem with their PVR.

I was told at lunch today that between bed time on Sunday and dinner on Monday all of their PVR recordings went away and they were getting closed captioning on the TV.

Husband removed the closed captioning Monday and I told the wife today there was no way for MTS to recover her missing programs as far as I know.

What I am wondering was there a MTS issue on Sunday or Monday (@ Alpine or further upstream ) that could have issued a wipe command  ?

I told them that it was probably a local power bump that scrambled the PVR's memory  and unless the problem comes back they should not worry about it.

Apparently a scheduled recording they set up for Tuesday is showing up in the to be watched list  so it does not appear to be a permanent fault with the PVR.

Any other thoughts or suggestions.  I also gave them the 204-CALL-MTS number for support.

Hi Clifford - this is a great opportunity to have your friends sign up and join our community. :)

Of course if they want they can send their info to community@mts.ca and we can investigate further. Without the details we are just guessing, it is unfortunate that recordings got lost (I know I would hate it as I have a big queue in my PVR waiting for me). Of course they can call tech support as you suggested - sometimes electronic equipment does just fail and we should perhaps swap it out so that it doesn't happen again.

Thanks for bringing this to us!!

Their shy :)  but I'll see what I can do to them to join.  And I just got a text to thank you for restoring the time/date on Ch 29 for them.

This is a prime example of why having access to additional "Go" apps like Global Go, City Video, TMN Go and the FX app is increasingly important. Ten years back everyone used VHS, DVD or disk based recorders. Those all basically disappeared as we moved to a PVR. Now you don't even need a PVR most of the time as you just launch the app and stream the episode you missed.

Hopefully MTS will get there soon, especially with the $20/month TMN (The Movie Network) which includes the Canada version of HBO Go. Sadly of the **35** different companies with authorized users for TMN Go MTS is not listed. TMN Go is also a Bell app like TSN Go and CTV Go which are both authorized for MTS users.
