In the past week I have scheduled three baseball games to be recorded but none of the recordings have the games - they all have other shows from the correct channel. Is there a problem with the Guide ? Is it not showing the right information ? I am getting quite frustrated by this.

Hi Don,

Can you tell me what game you were trying to record, and on which channel/time?

The guide listings come from Gracenote (Tribune Media Service), and are ingested daily into our TV service, so as long as the listings they send MTS are correct the guide will be correct.

There are times where listings are not accurate, when that happens we try to determine if it is an issue with wrong channel data, or if the channel provider simply changed their schedule and didn't update Gracenote.

that will be hard to because I erased the recordings. I search for MLB and use the results for recording. Most of the channels would be those in package from 1171 - 1188.
I have a few scheduled for this week. If they fail I will let you know.

If you are looking to record the Bluejay's games, I would suggest 1174, the games seem to always be on that channel.

Thanks - that would be great if I was a Blue Jays fan but I kinda like the Cubs> I checked MLB.com and all the games were played

Stupid question but could the games have been rained out or rain delayed and filler programming was substituted?

Only reason I am suggesting that is over the weekend TSN was suppose to have NASCAR qualifying on Saturday but because of inclement weather in Chicago it was rained out and there was alternate programming on.  If I had not checked on NASCAR I would have thought the guide was wrong.

Sometimes on national level broadcasts the featured game is changed with little advance notice, for example they set their planned schedule before the start of the season but now they can change to a game between two teams in a tight playoff race. Alternatively, a game was picked because of a specific player who has been injured and is out for the rest of the season meaning the game is now of less interest to fans.

That channel range suggests we are also talking about games on SportsNet. I am not sure if it still applies but they used to be regional sports channels. That could mean that the listing for the eastern channel covering the Ontario market is correct however as Manitoba is out of that market the game is blacked out and alternate programming is being aired.

Is there a specific, upcoming game that you are hoping to record which could be checked on further? Sometimes it is easier to spot these issues going forward than it is going backwards.

in this case they were regular Chicago Cubs games scheduled for last week. According to MLB.com all games were played at their appointed times - there didn't appear to be any that were re-scheduled. No tight playoff race, just the season winding down.

I could be wrong about the channel range though - they could have been on Fox or one of the TSN channels.

Don - can you please post a few samples of recordings yet to occur? This would allow someone else to check them in advance.
