Please remind me again why we have to pay for STB's year after year

Just need a reminder here. Other than replacement of a defective STB unit, and no I don't consider it free because I have been paying for the stb for years, why after a certain number of years, a prorated or better price like free would not be offered to loyal customers?  Unfortunately for us, we have too many tv's and are paying for 6 stb's and one wireless ( which is crap ).   Thanks

At this time our set top boxes are offered as a low monthly rental fee, to avoid paying the large outright purchase price these boxes can cost. Since you're only renting the box we can replace or upgrade the equipment when necessary at no cost. We certainly appreciate your feedback and we will certainly bring your ideas to our Marketing team for future reference regarding the Set top box fees.
