Ownership change on Wireless accounts

How does one go about changing ownership on a wireless account, and how long does it take for these changes to take effect regarding porting out the phone number to another provider?

I am currently with Rogers, and am adding my wife to my account. She wants to retain her number...but due to the plans both being under different names, we hit a snag.

Just to add to what Bryan S has said, a Wireless transfer of service can usually be completed as a same day request. Unless the incoming customer is not available at the same time, we may need to delay the request in order to speak with them to complete the incoming account details. You can complete a Transfer of Service by contacting us at 204-225-5687, or visit an MTS Connect Store location if its after regular Wireless Business hours of 8AM-6PM.
