New MTS email service lacking

The soon to be retired email service from service allowed one to create Calendar, contacts and email and allowed the syncing of these items across Windows platforms as well as iOS. The new system only allows access to email and notes across platforms.

This means that if you were using an iOS device and were using for your contacts you have to continue to leave that account active. This is because if you remove the account from the iOS device your contacts also will be removed from the device. This also means that if you change or add a contact on the iOS device those changes or addition are not reflected to the new MTS webmail interface. The same goes for Calendar changes.

Sorry to say but this switchover seems to be not thought out. More and more people these days are using mobile devices in conjunction with desktop computers.

If you are using an iOS device or even a Blackberry 10 device there is the ability to sync your contacts and calendar.  They offer a feature called CalDav and CarDav.  Unfortunately by default these are the only mobile devices that offer this feature however there may be 3rd party apps that allow the other Android or Windows mobile devices to allow this feature as well.
As for the syncing on a computer with a mail client this unfortunately is not currently available.  Seems the usage of mail clients is becoming less and less common.  With the increased mailbox size of the email websites as well as all the additional features offered many people are making the switch to the online email instead of worrying about a client and all it's configurations.
