The Laptop I am using now is the same one purshased from MTS in the fall of 2008. A monthly charge was applied to the MTS bill monthly for 36 months. A super-good laptop, great price affordable to everyone and not a bit of trouble from day one. Seven years old now....and getting a bit cricketty and cracketty here now and then, but works great and speeds are just fine. It could use a good tune-up and cleaning, though. I was wandering if there is a plan in the making to offer the same kind of laptop sale to customers in the near future for the same type of offer as seven years ago?
The closest MTS offers to a laptop purchase like you described is the tablets, mostly iPads, they offer on two year (24 month) data plans. Depending on the tablet you pay somewhere from $200 and up when you sign-up and then pay for monthly wireless data of $30/month for 24 months. The monthly payment is then about 2/3 towards the device cost and the balance towards the data you can use when way from home WiFi.
I remember MTS offering this as well, I believe it was a promotion back in November 2007. I didn't get this deal from mts back then but if it was available again I think I would probably get it as my laptop is getting older and slower now. I already have an iPad 3rd gen which is running well right now and probably will keep it another year or two but most definitely need a new laptop soon.
Well my laptop finally died right on January 1st. I was using it turned it off then later back on and just blank screen. I then took it into Geek Squad and the cost for repair $500.00 apparently the motherboard died. So now I am strictly using my iPad and IPhone for everything and if I need a computer I go to the library. If MTS had that plan back again I would sign up in a heart beat but I guess those plans didn't sell back then as well as MTS hoped. I will likely buy a new laptop in the summer time as I simply can't afford one at this time and am kind of having fun going to the library and using my iPad more often.
Thanks CoryB. I will likely just set aside certain amount of money every month in my savings and go from there. I could do financing through Best Buy but would rather just save up for now anyways. I got other things I got to pay for right now. Things always break down at the worst possible time. For me anyways lol.
