MTS blocking Playstation Network connection

For the past two weeks I have been experiencing issues trying to log in to my Playstation Network account on my or my brother's PS4. I also cannot access Playstation Store on my Macbook and the Playstation Apps on my phone.

I spoke with a Playstation representative and he identified the problem was with MTS "putting up restrictions with [Playstation] servers."

So I called MTS and a representative claimed that MTS does not block any port numbers but I think thats incorrect otherwise I would not be posting this. She did manage a temporary fix by port forwarding my PS4 using a DMZ "wormhole." Her fix worked for about two hours and then the problem reoccured and I could not access anything Playstation related.

I thought myself how to do what she did but I really do not feel like changing the DMZ settings every time either my brother and I go online. There's also the problem of when we both play at the same time.

My friend who's with Shaw has no trouble logging in so I have no idea what's so different with MTS that this issue popped up.

Hi Jan,
It is very odd that you are being blocked from accessing anything on the Playstation Network.  I can certainly assure you that we don't block this access in any fashion.  If the DMZ was working for you, then suddenly stopped that would usually point to a block on the other end as there wouldn't have been anything that changed on your side.  If you'd like this is certainly something we can try to work through with you.  If you send your account and contact information to community@mts.ca we will reach out to you and see if we can come to a solution.

Something else to keep in mind is the MTS gateway in your residence does have a firewall blocking some ports. This is a customer controlled setting though and MTS support could walk you through opening it up. If you also are using a customer owned wireless router though that would fall outside the scope of MTS support. If you want resolve the issue it is best to be fully honest with your network setup when talking to MTS. They don't care how it is structured but need the full info to best provide assistance.

We're using a PACE router, the one MTS supplied for us. Besides a D-Link Powerline that connects my PS4 so that it's wired for smoother connection, no other device is being used.
Just to reiterate it is not just the PS4s, I also cannot access playstation.com on my Macbook as well as log in to PSN apps on my phone, both devices are using WiFi.

One thing I noticed when running two Playstation 4's off the same Gateway was the NAT would randomly block one Playstation 4 from the network and stop voice over IP or connect to game servers.  After multiple attempts and time it would finally be able to connect to the same game and voice channel the only Playstation was already connect too.  I think the Strict Nat just needs to be tweaked or disabled on the RG to stop this from happening.

Both of our PS4s are unable to simply log in our Playstation Network accounts, it's not one or the other.
However you are correct that a connection is established after A LOT of attempts and several hours after.
Just to reiterate it is not just the PS4s, I also cannot access playstation.com on my Macbook as well as log in to PSN apps on my phone, both devices are using WiFi.

Just speculation but with two PS4 communicating with Sony appearing on the same IP address it could look like you are trying to fake something to Sony. Sony's perception that you may be up to no good could have caused them.to block you. All traffic from your house appears to be on a single IP address to anyone outside your house.
