Hi Ms. Pluschnik,

Clifford is right - airtime is calculated during your bucket allotment time period, generally from 7 AM - 6 PM Monday to Friday. The meter starts running as soon as you hit send on your cell to initiate the call with the other person. You're billed from the time that call starts on your phone, not when the other party picks up. Those minutes will go against the bucket of minutes allowed with your plan and deduct accordingly. The only exceptions are if you have free calling to other parties included, something like our Insider feature (free calling on airtime and long distance to other MTS cell's while in Manitoba) or one of our Pick 5 features which can cover local or long distance calls depending on the feature.

With Long Distance, this is a premium rate attached on top of the minutes used. If you were to make a long distance call during the day time, it would use your airtime minutes plus charge the long distance/minute, generally $0.50/minute. When you make a call on the evening or weekend, rate periods that are generally free on airtime; that doesn't mean that it is also free on long distance.

As mentioned, it's a premium to connect the call to a part who's outside of your local calling area. Long distance will always be charged when you're calling a long distance pay as you go customer, while receiving a call while outside of Manitoba, calling a number that's not local to you while outside of Manitoba, and if you forward your number to a long distance number. In any event that a long distance call goes through on your cell phone it will alert you to let you know that to connect the call a long distance charge may apply.

Hope this helps clear things up! Should you have further questions or like us to review your bill to discuss further - please send us an email with your full name, cell number and account number to
