Missed another movie that was not listed in the movie category

It was nice to turn on Ultimate T.V. and find out that "Prometheus" was playing on space channel at 8pm. Too bad once again MTS that it was not listed under your movie category.This happens all of the time....When is MTS going to finally fix another of many problems?

As far as I know...its not MTS (or any provider for that matter) that sets the guide data, but rather is is provided by a 3rd party. If the guide data did not indicate that it was a movie, then it won't show up under the movie category.

The same issue holds true with PVR recordings being missed when "first run only" is selected.  Sometimes shows are aired in the USA before Canada.  Although the first Canadian airing may be Sept. 8 2015 for example, if the show aired in the USA earlier that year and you PVR only first runs, you won't get it.  

My brother in law had this exact problem with a few shows on the Nat Geo. Channel and History channel.

Dustin is right MTS does not product its own TV listings. 

I think there are only two companies that provide listings to all the cable companies in North America (for some reason the names Gemstar  and Tribune syndicate come to mind).

 If they are not provided the right information by the channels then what you have is classic garbage in garbage out.   Either wrong titles and/or classifications.

 I have also seen where there are different movies on than listed because the  US based broadcaster does not have the Canadian rights to the movie and substitutes one they do have rights to.  Unfortunately  they did not send that information to the guide content provider  which means the MTS listings are wrong.

Garbage in and garbage out...I agree....how many times can one watch Rain Man, Die Hard, Dirty Dancing etc......I am waking up and saying to myself why am I wasting time and money with MTS....They have become spoiled and lazy......Thanks for the reply......This family has sold our shares......

But the same issue will be with other providers if the guide company was given the wrong information from the broadcaster.  To say MTS is spoiled and lazy due to other companies mistakes which is completely out of their control is quite a stretch,

Can't really blame MTS  for what they carry.  MTS is not big enough to own any of the cable content providers or buy enough to have any influence on whats produced.

What they show on the  movies and specialty channels are decided by the Bell Media, Rogers, Corus Entertainment group people who own all the Canadian cable channels.  And then add the CRTC with their CanCon rules.

Hey there Darren,

Do you mean the Categories (aka 'Genre') under the Live TV menu? If so, these are a relatively static list of channels that we don't change very often. We don't have channel 1122 (Space HD) in this list currently. My guess is that it's because the majority of programs are TV shows.
