Hi Mandy Bryan here. We do now offer monthly prepaid plans. If you were to modify your plan to one of those then your balance would be lowered by the monthly fee you select. You would not have to add money as long as the balance exists. If you visit our homepage The options for plans are under the prepaid tab. If you need more assistance please use our chat option available on the website or call us at 204-225-5687. Hope this helps.

I know how you feel, Mandy.  I couldn't get a prepaid with MTS when I needed one, so went with another provider.  I, too, have a ridiculously high credit -- even though I didn't top up in time a couple times and lost some, and even though I try to make as many long distance calls as I can, and even though I loan my phone to friends to make long distance calls....I even finally learned how to do texting, thinking that would eat up the credit -- nope, turns out I have "free, unlimited" texting privileges on the plan... :( :(   Pre-paid plans should be made so that a person pre-pays, and when that runs out, it runs out.... not time-sensitive!!  Many people use the phone for security/emergency use -- and don't want to get a monthly plan for that, so use the "pre-pay" option.  BUT - it turns into an "expensive" option after all, because we have to keep spending more and more money to keep something that we obviously aren't using....

MTS does offer a $100 pre-paid top up with a 365 day (1 year) expiry. It might not completely solve the amount of balance the account is carrying over but it is the cheapest top-up option for maintaining on going service.
