Is DMZ safe

I have set up DMZ on a Pace 5168n modem/router. I have an Asus RT-AC3100 set up to handle all of my wi fi. It is the device I have selected to be the hardware that is connected to the DMZ. Two questions:

Firstly will the Asus firewall and AiProtection by Trend Micro protect my network?

Secondly are the other ports on the Pace secured by it's firewall so that I can use them for my hard wired devices?

The security of your own router when using DMZ is something you would have to determine. If it's a concern then don't do it

In terms of the other ports on the Pace, someone else will have to answer as I am not sure.

Hey eugeneg,
Sorry for the delayed response.  When DMZ is applied it will only affect the specific device you have it applied to.  This means if you have other devices connected on different ports they would still be protected by the firewall within the RG itself.  As for the protection on the Asus router in DMZ, CoryB is correct, that would be entirely up to your settings within that device itself as the DMZ just opens up the pipe directly through our RG to your equipment.
