I have a linksys router connected to the 2Wire mts router. the max speed i get through this config is 10 Mbps. if I connect directly to the mts router i can get 25 Mbps. I have moved the linksys into the DMZ on the MTS router but still only get 10 Mbps. Is there a setting on the Linksys router that is limiting its speed?

Wired network connections can be capped at 10 Mbps. Much like 802.11b is slower than 802.11g and both those are slower than 802.11n.

Can you post the model of Linksys you are using so the specs can be checked?

I'm using a Linksys EA3500.

That router supports gigabit wired connections. The other piece to check would be the specs on the MTS gateway. Hopefully someone else is by soon to help with that

MTS says there are no settings on their gateway that are slowing down the Linksys router. If I plug directly into the gateway I can get 25 Mbps speeds. There must be some setting on the Linksys router that is limiting the output to 10 Mbps.

When you measure the Linksys speed is it from something plugged into it or by wireless?

I have tried both wired and wireless. For the most part I'm using a wired PC and logging into the router to test the speed

Problem solved. After searching the Linksys forum I discovered that the media prioritization function, when on, will limit speed.

The challenge is this setup heavily steps into "your on your own". It sucks but perhaps put in a call to Linksys tech support.
