Confused about the service available here. My dad lived a street over and it was available. Yet it doesn't have Sandy Hook golf course area listed as it being available. Also my neibor claims they have it. Yet when I call and ask and or put my address in , it says. Not available. So what's going on here.

one of a few things could be happening

1 the cable mapping system is not up todate so the authorization system says your not eligible. Mistakes like this have been known to occur at MTS from time to time.

2 the phone cable for your street while fine for voice is not capable for data service for some reason.

MTS has the ability to actually do a test on your line to rule out #1. Just a matter of talking to the right department to get it run.

So maybe just call them and explain the situation? I also don't have a LAN line . Just my cell.

There is at least one other posting here one the site where potential customers (in Lorette) have called MTS and found that the online information saying they were not eligible for internet was wrong  and they were able to get service but MTS had to test the lines to that street to confirm.

Hi Jann,
Clifford makes some great points, it never hurts to call in and have the availability double checked.  Another thing to consider is loop length.  The line providing service can only carry a signal so far.  A neighbor a couple houses away may get service when you can't simply because they are at the very end of that eligible signal.  I've seen this happen in different areas from rural communities to places within Winnipeg.  Line quality will also play a factor in how far that signal can go.  In the end it's always good to double check but the fact your neighbor has it doesn't always matter.  Hope this helps.
