Galaxy S6 emergency only

Not sure if this is a common problem or not, but I purchased a S6 back at the end of November, and since then I have lost service 3 times. It happened to me twice within 2 days in late December, then again just now. Up at the top it says emergency calls only and I can't get service until I reboot the phone, after which it works fine again. I'm hoping that it's only a software issue and that this issue won't persist for the next 2 years.

I've had that happen to me on several occasions as well. I just bought my s6 mid December and it's happened maybe 5 times since then. That is an issue I've experienced with my LG g3 several times throughout 2015. My parents and brother also experience this with their iPhones.

just took a quick peek in Google and on some of the cell fourms the cause is listed as a flaky SIM card.

Some of those posters had good results after reinserting the existing card and some said the problems went away with a new card.

So if that's the case, would MTS charge me for a new sim card? When I upgraded at the end if November the guy didn't give me a new one, he just pulled it out of my iPhone and into the new Galaxy.

it may not be in there making contract properly, if you can take it and reinsert it the problem may go away.

As to a replacement cost maybe Gillian or one of the other MTS reps could advise if MTS would wave the $10 cost.

One other suggested  fix was to change the network settings not to accept LTE.

Actually it didn't matter if I switched it to hspa only or LTE, or turn on airplane mode. Nothing fixed it until I rebooted.

I would try and change to a new sim. Its possible you have an older sim and the new phone requires a updated one. That happened to me before. They should give it free with the new phone i would not pay if i just purchased a new phone.
