We have heard a few reports from customers regarding a fraudulent phone survey that claims to be from MTS.
Unfortunately, we are unable to stop or control these scammers directly. But in an effort to help you out, here are some tactics used by scammers that you can listen for:
- Advising you that your computer has been infected by a virus or has corrupted files and asking you to call a specific number for assistance.
- Asking you questions that would reveal personally identifying information, such as your home address or financial data such as a credit card or banking number.
- Advising you that your banking or credit card information has been corrupted or comprised and asking you to contact a specific number for confirmation.
Remember that you should never disclose bank accounts, credit cards, or personal finances if you are suspicious of the caller. If you are unsure whether the phone call is a scam, contact us directly for more information.
Here is more information from the Government of Canada’s Anti-Fraud Centre on how to Protect Yourself.
Hope this helps.
