Please explain why the install fee went up from $99 to $149 ??? This plan costs enough already as it is for a slow 5Mbps download speed. Why has the install fee increases by another $50 ??

Dump dsl and look for a wireless solution. I cancelled my DSL I already own a commercial cell Amp so pointed to a tower for LTE+ Rogers offered me a rocket hub free usage for 1 year loyalty program. Attached my speed test.

I am still waiting for someone from Bell MTS to comment on this price increase as to why we must pay for for install.

Hey Dan,

Sorry about the delay in response.

The fee for install in an Essential Reach community is $149.00 by nature, from time to time there are special's offered on the install charge. The $99.00 price point you mentioned fell under a promotion we offered on the install fee for a period of time.

After this promotion expired, the fee went back to it's normal pricing.  This fee covers all the costs associated with setting up the Internet. Such as: enhancing your phone line to be able to offer the High Speed internet service. Getting the modem to your home by installer visit and the software kit required to set up the home computer up on the internet.

Hope this helps clear things up,
Cheers.

There is no longer a software kit required to be installed on the computer anymore. Let me ask you this, there’s no essential reach area 50KM North of Winnipeg, and then just 3 KM further to the North of the esstential reach area there is an area that is no an essential reach area and they get free installation. You say the cost is to cover an installer coming to install the internet, yet an area 2 mins further to the North there is no install fees required. As well I know areas that are not in the essential reach area also need line enhancements as well.

So when will Bell MTS finally start acknowledging that this $149 install fee is just a way to trick people into paying more? The essential reach area and the regular area both use ADSL and both require line enhancements both use the same ADSL modem and both require a technician to come out. A technician explained this to me that there is no difference most of the time. So please distinguish the differences of the install process between an Essential Reach area and an area that is non essential reach with ADSL technology. If I don’t see what’s so different that you need to charge $149 for I will ask the CCTS to make Bell MTS tell us why!
