Detailed Billing for Wireless customers

  • Under Consideration
I first became a MTS wireless customer in 2005. Back in 2005 Detailed billing (a listing of all your calls) was included FREE of charge. In 2007 they decided they wanted to start charging $3 or $4 for residential customers, however it remained free for business. Everytime I re-negotiated my contract I managed to get the billing code for "free detailed billing" added to my account. In 2009, MTS launched online billing for their customers and I continued to receive this benefit. I left MTS in 2011 because I wanted the Samsung S2 and went to Rogers who had it. Rogers charged people for detailed billing if they wanted it in paper form, but it was free for online customers, so I had online billing and continued to receive it for free.

When I came back to MTS in 2014 I was told that detailed billing was $4 and it didn't matter if you received a paper bill or online billing. As I wasn't going to pay $4 for them to hit a key on the computer I have not had detailed billing since I came back to MTS.

My question/thought/idea today is WHY can't detailed billing be offered for free to people who have online billing? It's not costing you ANYTHING as you are not printing anything or mailing it to me. Many other carriers including Telus, Koodo, Rogers, and more all offer detailed billing as an optional add on for FREE if you have online billing. They charge if people want a printed copy of the detailed billing and receive a paper bill.

I would LOVE MTS to adopt free detailed billing for online billing customers. This is one feature I really do miss.

Anyways please consider it, I would really like to get my detailed billing back :)  (Also why can't I see this as a feature on your website anymore?)

This is a great idea. I see having a fee for paper billing but online should be included for sure!

Thank you, K from Canada!

That's a great suggestion for sure, I will pass it onto our Customer Experience team. :)

Awesome. I'm glad to see it's under consideration. Like I said I would love to have free detailed billing back. Thanks.

Every time I challenge MTS customer care reps about the price the response is "because it is more work for our computers that's why we charge 4 dollars a month". I got to wonder why it's not "too much work" for Telus computers that they are able to include it no charge. i can see paper bill as K from Canada said but not online billing. End of rant lol!

The up charge for detailed billing goes back to paper bill days. Back then you had higher paper and postage costs so it made sense. The current extra charge is all a carry over from then.

That makes sense, hopefully they remove that charge in future.

I have detailed billing with MTS on a 5G data plan and unlimited calling/long distance across Canada. Pretty sure I'm not paying anything extra for it.

I had free detailed billing up until this past month as a promo from middle of last year. Now I am paying the $4.00 which is annoying but I like to see all my call records.

Unfortunately, extra billing for so called "extra" services is an all too common practice. Look at "call display". The number calling you is automatically embedded in the stream. They purposely take it out, then charge you extra just to put in back in again.
