Has anyone else noticed their phone drop from full bars of HSPA to full bars of GSM at random times? Mine was doing that last weekend and also today in Winnipeg. I'm thinking its a problem with my device, never seen this before.

That's a weird one, only thing that comes to mind is sudden massive interference which causes the phone to no longer be able to decode the HSPA signal, while the bars continue to indicate it can see a strong HSPA signal. Is it replicatable? does it happen with other phones in the same location?

I just realized that it only seems to happen when I have the phone in the FM transmitter dock in my car, I bet that's that doing it. The problem has never happened with the phone being out of the FM dock.

Happy to help, the signals are at such a low power by the time it reaches a phone, anything localized that may not have a great filter can render the phone unable to understand a signal. Phones on HSPA can understand signals that are 0.0000000000000003 of a watt.
