I've heard about FiON, but I don't really know what it is. It seems to be new - it is the same as Bell's "Fibe"? Does it make things faster, or give me access to different products?

The MTS FiONĀ® Network is a newer technology (sometimes referred to as Fibre To The Home) that uses fibre optic cables instead of traditional copper wiring to deliver Voice, Internet and TV service to your home. Using fibre optics instead of copper wiring allows for much more bandwidth to your home; and as you noted - allows us to provide you with higher quality voice, High Speed Internet and TV service. (E.g. faster speeds on your internet service, more HD channels on TV, and more.)

Over the last couple of years, we have built out the MTS FiONĀ® Network to include the following communities:
  • Waverley West
  • Selkirk
  • Dauphin
  • Steinbach
  • Thompson
  • The Pas
  • Neepawa
  • Carberry
  • Minnedosa
  • Killarney
  • Beausejour
  • Stonewall
  • Lorette
Over the next few months we will bringing this network, and corresponding services to Niverville and Oakbank as well.

In Winnipeg we are concentrating on the new developments first, with plans for the rest of the city not yet finalized.

Some more details on this can be found here: MTS Fibre Optic Network
