CRTC requires ONE provider to offer you 50/10 service by the end of 2030. That doesn't mean it will be BellMTS or any other provider you can name.

Cory is the 50/10 the lowest plan that they have to offer you or they just have to offer that plan?

The 50/10 target is the "minimum" to be available. That said as soon as ANY provider offers it at ANY cost to your door the requirement is met. There is no requirement b
for every company to provide service to your door and also nothing preventing lower speeds from still being offered.

The thought is in rural areas the provider could end up being wireless or satellite.

Also keep in mind with the target still 14 years out (it's the end of 2030) and there is currently no "stick" provision in the ruling it is unclear how the government plans to ensure those unprofitable areas have that level of service available.

The first five years are focusing on getting from about 85% with that level of service available to 90%. This means the focus over the next five year is smaller, dense, urban style communities without that service currently, aka places like Winkler.
