Was the person trying to sell you a MTS service?  In the past MTS has had contracted  door to door sales people going out to sell both internet and MTS TV.

They are required to have a visible MTS Photo id tag on them an show it  when they come to your door.

And I guess to help the  MTS reps on here figure out if it was legit, what area did this happen in?

Richmond West.  Might have been about internet as he said something about my having TV and phone but when people disturb me at suppertime I don't get very polite.  Didn't have time to check his creds as I was making supper.  Why can't you have people come around during the day until 5 or after 8pm?  May talk to them then.  If it was about returning to your internet, sorry, until your email is in-house and or no longer at a @MYMTS domain I shall continue with Shaw.  Beside, if Bell gets greedy and starts with rate increases on TV and Home Phone I may just switch providers to better offers.  Out of curiosity, how many internet customers did you lose in the Microsoft outsourcing fiasco?  So much for increasing your customer base!

You were able to maintain all existing email addresses on ever MTS email system including @mts.net and even @escape.ca if you had them! Still work on the one they use today.

Didn't work for me.  I switched back to MTS for one day after being told username@mts.net would work only to find out I still had to log in using username@mymts.net.  Sorry, the 'MY' sucks!  Went back to Shaw the same day.

Come on is it really a big deal? You can always use gmail or hotmail or even Yahoo free of charge. I know many businesses who use MTS email and they have no problems with the "Mymts"

Yes, it is a big deal, makes the email sound mickey mouse same as gmail hotmail and yahoo of which I use both gmail and yahoo for my garbage emails where I don't worry about privacy or identity theft.  I use my isp email for more protected communication.  And yes, I know nothing in cyberspace is safe from determined hackers but I feel more at ease with isp email.  If shaw ever goes to an @myshaw domain I'll quit them too..

If you are truly concerned about the minimal details your email domain gives away you are really looking at the wrong aspect of Internet security to start with.

That said, for only a few bucks a year you can get your own domain and then have email addresses on that from GMail, Microsoft, etc.

Lots of solutions out there. Simply put no ISP host email in house an hasn't for many, many years now.

Hi Gene,
We certainly apologize for any inconvenience we caused visiting you during your suppertime. I can confirm that we do have door to door representatives in the Winnipeg area that may have been stopping by to discuss services you may not have with MTS at this time. I will certainly forward your feedback to our Management team regarding the time frames you find appropriate. As well, if you'd like to be removed from our door to door contact list, please feel free to send us your account information at community@mts.ca and we will have you put on our do not contact list.

Thank you,
Megan
