What is the difference with 850Mhz and 1900Mhz? I know 850Mhz travels farther distances and into buildings better, so what is 1900Mhz good for?

FirstClass is correct both in that 850 penetrates far better and that they are both used for capacity on a single site.

For a calculation of how much better 850 is, there are a number of online calculators, just search for Free Space Path Loss Calculator.

For instance, 850 MHz at 1 kilometer (assuming 16 dbi transmit, 0 dbi receive) will have a free space path loss of 75 dB, whereas 1900 will have a loss of 82 dB. That 7dB difference tells us that 850 will have more than 4 times the power of 1900 at that distance.
