$75 plan pricing question

I am considering signing up for one of the $65 plans (new customer, porting from different carrier) and adding the $15 addon for Unlimited Canadian long distance. The phone is for my wife who has family out of province. Does this total of $80 make me eligible for the $75+ pricing on the purchase price of the handset or is that handset pricing based on the base plan ($65, meaning the purchase price is more).

Also, in the above situation, does the $15 addon give me unlimited calling (local and long distance) in Canada at all hours of the day on both the $65 plans or does the 1000 local minutes still come into play on the Unlimited Data plan? In other words, would it make the most sense to get the Unlimited Data $65 plan for unlimited data + unlimited voice rather than the 5GB $65 plan?

Last of all, are there ever any sales planned including iPhones? Seems most carriers had sales for black friday including iPhones but MTS usually excludes them. Has MTS had sales in the past leading up to Christmas?

Hi nufan,

Lots of questions here! That's great that you're looking at porting your number over and we'll do our best to answer all of your questions.

First, regarding the handset pricing on the $75+ plans, the plan itself needs to be $75 or more to be eligible for the $75+ pricing. The $15 Unlimited Canadian Long Distance feature is not part of the plan, nor the contract, so in the case above you would not be eligible.

Second, the $15 add on gives you unlimited long distance, not unlimited airtime. On a plan with unlimited airtime, of course, this is not an issue. But otherwise you would be constrained by the number of local minutes included in the plan that you choose. I should mention that in the example you mention above you would have 1000 daytime minutes and your evenings and weekends are still unlimited. For most people, that's a lot of minutes!

Third, in terms of sales, we don't have any information on upcoming sales. Having said that, in the past we have had sales leading up to Christmas so check back with us on that one! I'm sorry but I just don't know if the iPhones are going to be on sale later this month.
